first off he liked dikk, and all he did was rob and kill nikkas who had more hustle than him. stick up boys are the lowest tier of street nikkas and you nikkas revere him. yeah he caught me lacking and lit me up, but I built a whole drug empire from the ground up his parasitic ass leeched off

Unlike Stringer he followed a code and was loyal.

Also unlike Stringer he wasn't afraid to put in work.

He didn't need soldiers to get respect, he commanded it on his own.

Stringer was a general, not a soldier. He wasn't supposed to put in work at rhat stage. And if you watched one of the last exchanges between String and Avon before the latter betrayed the former, we were meant to infer that String did put in work before he became a boss.
