On a recent episode of the Load Management podcast, Roman Reigns shared his straightforward thoughts on CM Punk, along with many other topics. Of course, it was his comments on Punk that have many wrestling fans talking.
When asked about potential matches in the future for his new heel character, Reigns discussed a few possibilities, including Punk.
“All the way from someone as big as The Rock to someone like CM Punk, for instance,” Reigns said. Someone who really hits home with our audience and hardcore fans. If you’ve watched wrestling for the last 10-15 years and you love it and it’s in your blood, then you probably have some kind of feelings about that guy. I know I do. Just by doing one of these things, he made my job a lot harder five or 10 years ago. If it’s something that the fans can get behind and it can make them sink their teeth into and really dive into the creative with us, then I’m willing to do it.”
Reigns then went on to add that he didn’t particularly care for Punk, but that he’d still be open to doing a match under the right circumstances.

“I don’t like the guy,” Reigns added. “I don’t know many people who do. I just don’t know many who do, but I’m willing to put business first and make really good content if that’s the case. He’d probably have to be slapped around a few times in order to get his mind right, but if he’s willing and the fans and audience are going to like it and be into it, then most likely I’m willing to do it.”

Of course back on that podcast in November 2014, he told that story about making Roman look strong and ever since fans never saw Reigns the same way..especially with WM XXX winner Bryan returning from injury for the Rumble..of course he was tossed early and Reigns came in looking strong and like the Juggernaut.

Punk didn't cause smarks to turn on Reigns. You could see the boos starting in Summer of 2014, they were pushing him over Ambrose (who was loved by smarks), and his push was very reminiscent of Cena's. But Punk did him no favors on that podcast either.

This is only a half work I think though. CM Punk seems angry all the time and like he believes his gimmick is and needs to be an 100% shoot.

Didn't pay attention to Reigns except he always went over Punk in those tag matches before he quit. So him getting boos in 2014? They don't stand out. Rumble 2015..different ball game.

Nah Reigns was pretty popular during the Summer of 2014. The 2015 Rumble is when Reigns started to get heat cause the fans wanted to see Bryan get another shot at the title after he had to give up the title due to injury and they felt that WWE was about to push Reigns to the moon and make Bryan a mid carder.

CM Punk has a toxic personality depending on circumstances and he's so ego driven. He quit because he never main event Play Fighting Mania kind of says it all.

I think WWE brought the worst out of Punk in the end. Punk just didn't handle fame well either.

Truly, the crowd really started turning on roman after his injury. I think he came back at Money in the Bank and was immediately inserted in the title match. Meanwhile Dean and Seth were stuck fighting for the IC title after having worked the previous 6 months. May not have been a ladder match, but I vividly remember it being a multi-man match.

why would you immediately insert reigns into that match? He had no credibility and it was impossible for him to get a rub.

if you try to shove any face down the fans throats people are going to reject it every time.

Watching
Fans turned on Roman when after his 1st injury, they refused to have Dean beat Seth which fit the mold perfectly too, because they wanted that to be the crowning moment of ROMAN. Seth got hurt and everything after was setup for Roman.
