I don't rock with either Briahna Joy Gray or Marc Lamont Hill (sometimes), but this convo about anti-blackness and anti-semitism was needed

Honestly, why are black Israelites so eager to cling to...christianity? Why not just make some new shyt?

of course Israelis and "OG" jews (yes I know African jews) are gonna take umbrage with Hebrew Israelites who are basically late comers and not the same as the East African jews.

Long story short...this is just one big christianity argument...because black people are afraid of being originally African and adopting what they were before they came here.

Its slave shyt :francis:

Honestly, black atheists might be the ONLY ones capable of having this convo

Highly disagree. When you say we are afraid of being originally African and adopting were we came from isn't an easy task to adopt. Americans typically blacks normally look at Africa as a whole or one body. Talk to Africans and they'll tell you everything from nationalism, religion, and tribes are factors in their current makeup. Black Americans cannot trace specific tribes they came from to support that statement. DNA tests at the most will give you a region. Most of it just boils down to education. To learn about African norms, traditions etc. you have to learn it on your own because you will not get that in public schools. Last don't stereotype people by thinking their belief limits their ability regarding conversations.

Back to the thread topic (vid). There's one fundamental difference between anti-blackness and anti-semitism. Jews own platforms to control their narrative and blacks don't. Its really that simple. :yeshrug:

Look I’m basically a black nihilist-more-or-less agnostic-atheist. None of this shyt matters even if you pick some original religion of your favorite flavors. It’s all BS to me.

The answer, to me, isn’t just to make some shyt up when it’s convenient.

What I’m saying is that no matter how this shakes out black Hebrew Israelites are basically seeking approval in some something they didn’t create to claim more legitimacy than existing members.

Not all of it is made up historically speaking. Seriously how is that any different blacks seeking approval from whites? That topic is separate thread in itself. I see your point but don't understand why it (appears) to make you upset.

A lot of it boils down to a weird strain of anti-African sentiment that is growing in a lot of (online) black American spaces. In the 60s we had Malcolm X arguing we need a direct connection to Africa to form cultural and economic bonds to reduce dependence on white society. In the 70s-90s we had different iterations of Afrocentrism. Now we have brain dead people online arguing Trans Atlantic Slave Trade didn't happen, and that black people are the original Native Americans. Likewise just as they're trying to erase the actual Native Americans, they're trying to erase the actual Hebrews and Jews.

IMO there's a lot of shame and anger involved in this shyt. Shame and sadness over originating from Africa, and being a descendant of slaves. As if that's all we were. We don't need to lie about being Jews or Indians. We were also kings, conquerors, explorers, scientists, medics.

im saying all religions are made up going far enough back. Look at Mormons. We know in recorded history that they’re bullshytting.

Like they’re just asking to be approved for another version of Abrahamic religion

I do wonder if Malcolm would have completely dropped the black nationalism/neo-Israelite shyt or if he was just moving away from the NOI as an organization.

Beyond the ideological stuff it was a money play too. I think he was right about creating a financial connection with Africa, but obviously part of that was for personal reasons for him. Dude was broke, couldn't get it from white groups/people without ruining his image and needed to build bridges. I think he was right, financially and ideologically, and if he had lived a few more years it would have paid off in a lot of ways.

Even today, we're just now seeing some real connections. The exchange programs HBCU schools are setting up with African universities for instance. We need more of that. Anything to expand minds and avoid white money is cool in my eyes.

Bruh he died before half these countries were free AND before the masses knew about federal involvement in undermining them. They were all doomed to fail.

No way he alone would have survived.
