I don't understand how anyone could say Jay-Z is better than Biggie

Biggie was a better songwriter, emcee, and storyteller than Jay-Z has EVER been. Jay-Z has never been on the level of what Biggie was. Sure, he's one of the most popular artist of all time now but his talent does not meet the level of his popularity.

Biggie only got the chance to release 2 albums but with those 2 great, classic albums he changed Hip Hop forever. Hell, Jay-Z's been eating and "biting' lines and quotes from those 2 albums since 98'. :beli:

I'll say this... Jay-Z is a good but not great artist. His talent is making mindless, party songs. The one important thing that Jay-Z lacks is substance. All of the so called GOATS have had all types of different songs (from introspective to retrospective and the club/party songs etc). Jay-Z's known for his club and party music. His so called "introspective" songs lack emotion and feeling because that's not Jay-Z's bread and butter.

None of Jay-Z's albums can even come close to these two classics:

Im just gonna say it but Jay Zs music isnt that great.
The only tracks I genuinly like by this dude is Dead Presidents, D'evils & Friend or Foe. His debut is decent Ill give him that but dude should have got shot and died in the 90s cuz every release after that is pure overated garbage. Dont even get me started on his modern day shyt

They see me trolling, they hating.....
The only real argument is longevity.

I feel like Big had Jay beat in every other category tho, and if he had of been alive these past 16 yrs it would have been even more apparent.

but he died after 2 albums so its not.

Same reason why I'm not mad when people put Jackie Chan (who has over 60 films to his name) over Bruce Lee (who only had like 4 films to his name)

Yea those 4 films were great but is it fair to place it over decades worth of consistent quality material?

Only rap dude that's ahead of Jay in terms of quality albums is Nas IMO, maybe Ghost also.

To be honest, in situations like this I don't think it's fair to compare the dead artist to the one that's alive and kicking...it's not fair to put Jay over Big because Big's life was taken when he was at (Or near) his peak.

And on the flip side it isn't fair to discredit Jay if he was able to put out more material because he was alive.

It's just too uneven.

It'd be different if Jay-Z did put out work that matched the talent and greatness to that of Biggie but he hasn't and doesn't. Sure, he's consistently dropped albums, but those albums have not come close to the two classic albums that Biggie's dropped.

Sure, Biggie only put out two albums but those two albums are just THAT great. It speaks volumes too that Jay-Z has consistently "borrowed" lines and quotes from those two albums too. Jay-Z knows just how great those albums are.

To compare the fat nicca to Jay lyrically is a goddamn tragedy. In 96 when they were both living RD is simply waaaay better than biggies shyt and certainly on a different level lyrically. The sooner you niccaz stop fawning over the obese nicca and actually pay attention youll see that. Its like comparin waka flocka to 3 stacks lyrically.

Biggie even out shined Jay-Z on the two records they collaborated on:
