It's the truth, though. As I got older, I realized why they were doing it, and kinda started to feel sorry for them. I don't know if it's still going on with kids today, but I hope it's starting to die off.

I'm a brown skinned dude in Australia and whenever i go on US messageboards, I always hear about how dark skin dudes in the US got it good after blade put the dark skinned male as the national sex symbol. I'm mean I'll be honest here, I regularly stalk lipstickalley and they've got plenty of threads dedicated to dark skinned fellas.

This whole #tearmdarkskin #teamlightskin thing has taken off since 2012 when twitter and instagram got big and suddenly nikkas was making fun of lightskin and darkskin left and right.
That's all they talked about in highschool and my little siblings and cousins are in on it too.

dark skin dudes are the main one's getting locked up, shot by police, shot by nikkas, catching cases. It has less to do with skin color and more to do with culture. Dark skin males are automatically looked upon as hard, thuggish, and hyper sexual. And a lot of dark skin brothers have incredibly low self esteem because of this. To be dark skin male and not fit the stereotype is an oddity in societies opinion. Were suppose to be unintelligent, irrational, and criminal-like. I break this stereotype everyday and get second looks from not only non-blacks but other black people as well.
Its not normal that as black ppl we make fun of ppl that r blacker. They all stem from communal self hate.
