Its a goat introspective song, He went in on damn near every single bar

"see you in the street, pretend to be friendly But I know any type of success breeds envy I know in the back of your mind your conjuring ways to hem me Leave my friends in a circle pouring out Henny"

I had zero skips on In My Lifetime vol.1, but if I had to choose my standout tracks I'd go with:

Lucky Me of course (he and Stevie J bodied that production:banderas:)
City Is Mine
I know what Girls like (kims verse!)
Where I’m from
You must love me
Friend or Foe

One things for certain Lucky Me shyts on anything on.4:44

Plus what a time for this to drop, right when big just died. Makes the track even more powerful with him asking if fame was all what it was cracked up to be.
Nikka sleep on how prophetic and introspective a lot of Hov music is

Jay said something along the lines of "Lucky Me" being the only song he did as Shawn Carter and not Jay-Z

shyt was/is incredible and makes me contemplate how limited Hip-Hop is in terms of having to live up to certain industry and cultural perceptions

In My Lifetime is heavily underrated in general, I like it more than Reasonable Doubt

His beat selection on Vol 1 is impeccable, the album plays out like a movie. It's such an interesting body of work because it's told from the perspective of jay being caught between the streets and the penthouse.

Love how he honors big on city is mine:

"A world with amnesia won't forget your name"
