I found an iPhone 5, should I keep it?

Just restart the phone and give it to your wife.

I would give it back. It's easy to track as soon as you get to a wifi spot it will lock if they know what they are doing.

I know how find my iphone works. I checked and it wasn't enabled. Is their another way to track the phone?

if you plan to keep the phone, take is far away from your house to some public place with wifi..wipe it from there and take it back home and restore it the way you want.
