Check the Boiler Room - Stock Market thread. Its stickied. Lots of ideas in there. If you want low risk and little to no work - invest in an index fund/ETF. If you're looking for a quick flip, you may be out of luck right now. Market is volatile and a lot of people think its going down. You can make money on the way down but if you're a newbie, I'd stay far away.
What do you think about buying up some shares in Berkshire Hathaway? They are buying up residential properties and own a lot of shyt.

Berkshire is always a wise investment as they have Buffet and his brilliant team behind them. Berkshire Class A shares are 219,000 for 1 share. Class B are running ~145 for 1 share. So you'd be grabbing the B shares, which doesn't really matter to you as a small investor as you don't care about voting rights. It'd say its a fairly safe investment but thats just off Buffets reputation. I haven't looked at their books/numbers in a few years.

it depends on your skill set, your immediate environment, your personal network, your available resources, how much time you can commit, etc...

but the basic premise is buy something for one dollar and sell it for two.
