I had a girl ask me to sign a petition to keep AZ from raising sales tax

i signed it before unfortunately because I worked petition jobs before and I know they got a quota
But I told her I wouldnt because I read this article about the Koch brothers

She was as Black like me. I told her I wouldn’t even do that for myself and how I turn down a job that involved the Republican Party

Even after I showed her th article, she asks me do you think it’s fair that they raise sales taxes while the wages stay the same?

I respond to that that AZ is one of the states where I actually see wages go up

How you going to try to argue with me when I got sources on my side?

Honestly it’s so easy for Republicans to win

Reminds me when my hometown had a ballot to raise taxes to fix th potholes
My dad told me I better not vote for that shyt
That made sense because you shouldn’t have to raise taxes to provide a basic public service

But it’s so easy to slip shyt through

Tucsonan, did high school state championships at Mesa CC, went to college at UA, the whole nine..and I'm pretty far from a Republican, but raising sales tax in AZ is a hard sell because the government is bad with money. We're one of the most taxed states in the country with one of the lowest median incomes and we have one of the worst education systems in the country. This makes folks extremely wary to support raised taxes...they see as money that either goes into the prisons or down the drain.

Is the proposed raise in taxes to fund the teacher salary hike? Okay, dope, I'm with it. If not? I'm apprehensive.

Yeah man if it was public transit related it gives pause..that shyt gets pushed in Tucson a lot and the budget it blown on "research"...meanwhile the roads are covered in cracks and potholes.

I really don't understand why these conservative business owners are against public transportation. All you have to do is look at cities like Chicago and NY; having a wide-reaching public transportation system helps the local economy.
