It seems like if you ask someone who claims to like hip hop who they listen to, these are the "go to" artists. It is such a generic answer. You know the real people who actually like hip hop would give you other artists that they like besides the, because there are so many out there besides these two. Yet, it seems like those are the two names that people can throw out to appear like they actually like rap. It would be like if someone asks you, "what classical music do you like?" and they say, "Beethoven". Now there is nothing wrong with liking Beethoven, but everyone knows that name without even knowing his actual work. ya feel me?

nah, you misunderstood. I'm not trying to "suppress their legacy". I'm just saying don't casually mention things like you absolutely love them when you've probably just heard them once or twice and jump on a bandwagon. And if you're gonna jump on a bandwagon, at least do your research and get to know what you're jumping on. look up their songs besides just naming one song from Tupac and one song from Biggie and claim that their music is vital to your life.
