I don't think that I've ever watched a full length PewDiePie video. I should be more proud of that fact.
The only YouTuber I went down the video rabbit hole was Angry Video Game Nerd. That one dude that would play and review old games. Dude had me :dead:

Only reason I checked him out was because a friend showed me some of his vids. I check out HISHE’s channel, but they ain’t all up in the video.

It really makes you realize how many people there are in this world where a youtube personality can have millions of subscribers and yet you've never heard of them. I can't help but respect the hustle though, especially the ones that identified a niche market and cornered it. My suggestion for anyone looking to get into the game is to understand what I just wrote and think about a very specific topic or aspect of a hobby and run with it. If even just a tiny fraction of online users dig it, you can make some money.

I check out one channel where all the guy does is review vaping/e-cigarette products, and he got over 300K subscribers. Funny thing is that he would purchase the products himself when he started, and now the manufacturers just send him everything for free hoping for a review so he doesn't even have to spend money anymore. I'm talking even $500 to $1000 devices...for free...

:wow:

Just think outside the box, and choose a unique topic that you really know a lot about (because people can spot a fraud or casual).. you can start a channel that only discusses 80's Saturday morning cartoons and get like 100K subscribers...

Why? It's much easier to just do whatever everyone else is doing.

Yep. All those comic book YouTube channels get free comics and boxed sets from Marvel and DC, and anything they buy for their channel or personal use gets written off as a business expense.

I need to get up on that wave. :wow:

You'll have to compete with a lot of other channels though. If I enter "Apple Watch Review" I'll get a thousand options, but if I enter "Vintage Rolex Datejust Watch Review", I'll see only a few channels dedicated to that (and I choose that example because my co-worker searched for just that topic the other day, found one guy talking about them and immediately joined his 61K followers.) I imagine there are at least 50K people that would be interested in pretty much any given topic.
