So I got a question for HL
Liberals and Progressives let me ask you, you are in a section of politics which wants socialism and is against free market capitalism.
Is it possible that free market capitalism would work if the nation was not so corrupt?

And now a question for the right.
Do you think socialism does not work in the U.S. only because of corruption?

So the question is, is it possible that even for a conservative socialism would be better if under a country not as corrupt as the U.S?

And for the left, is it possible that the only reason a free market capitalist country with limited govt. would not work only because of government corruption?

What if regardless of where you reside politically, either side is better than what we have now?
Is that possible?

i'm left leaning, but i don't believe it really matters if a country is free market capitalism or socialism.... it matters whether the people are all on the same page.... there are aspects where the free market works and aspects where socialism work.... we're just too divided in america.... when one side is actively working to make sure the ideas of their opponents fail, it doesn't matter, any idea will fail....

Post scarcity(both real and artificial), I'd be more than open to some forms of socialism.

To answer your question, I don't believe it suits our needs as well as laissez faire capitalism, and I believe government giveaways polarize society into segments, each trying to get what it wants at somebody else's expense, creating mutual bitterness that slowly tears a society apart.
:yeshrug:
Some seem to blithely assume that "the rich" can be taxed to pay for whatever they want as if "the rich" won't see what is coming and take their wealth elsewhere. I even think this happened in France where the rich began to leave forcing the state to roll back its tax on them.
In addition to that I feel like socialism is at odds with American culture which places a lot of emphasis on individual autonomy and the belief that where we end up is largely the result of choices we as individuals make.

Corruption is going to be part of any economy humans control... but i do feel its a bit scarier when the economy is completely planned/controlled:lupe: especially by white supremacist.

Government is supposed to step in when the nature of markets ensures certain things won't be provided because it would not be profitable and/or practical for any for-profit entity to provide it. That often gets construed into "everyone should end up equal."

:manny:The private sector is far more prone to corruption than the public sector.

:manny:And it's less efficient.

:manny:And it has worse overhead.

:manny:But it's not allowed certain authorities, so people are always crying about The State doing shyt that The Market would gladly do, if it could.
