did you see your x-rays? it's hard to know for sure, but I'd listen to them since fillings are a small procedure and covered by most insurances.

Look at the x-rays, maybe get a second opinion but as a breh who lost a tooth to negligence that filling may just save your tooth. Better safe than sorry.
