thats interesting i noticed this too. one should expect that in this kind of economy but its something more than just frugality. its something almost cultural in a way.
one example is families dont sit around and watch tv together anymore. people have their own private spaces sectioned out in their houses where they can use the internet independently. its because the internet is more of a private experience vs a shared experience. less people are watching less and less tv so its less of a need to have a tv or to pay for cable. its other things here and there too but this was just one thing that stood out to me. a lot of things we used to think were necessary just arent anymore.
