I have always been a huge comic head but now when I try to get into the stuff I used to dig, it's just hollow.

Real life has taken such a bizarre and unsettling turn that it feels like Lex Luthor just won the Oval Office... and there's no Justice League.

And of course comics have always been kind of tonedeaf about Black issues, but now it's unbearable to watch Power Man the ex con turned superhero, his own brother from a broken fukked up home is the big bad.

Anyone else find it hard to engage in fiction right now?

I kinda understand were you coming from OP. What's the use of fiction when real life is starting to become more and more like fiction? We got Yosemite Sam and his pornstar mail order bride as our President elect and future First Lady.

Actually I know exactly how you feel

I have just a few shows I fukk with heavy, and it's not like I've lost interest in movies, but the lion's share of my viewing time goes to sports, documentaries, and nature, travel, and food shows.

The multi-episode story arcs that have become popular make for some really good TV, but now it seems like a huge mental investment to try and get into new shows.

I havent watched TV in 8 years. Stopped June of 2008 before the McCain/Obama race in November.

Not watching TV for that long and having a black president in the white house seems to of done wonders for me mentally and physically though. I observed so much about race in america in that time frame i moved the fukk out of lily white western pa and to nyc and never looked back.

Fiction for the most part are made by and for cacs.
This.

And always will be. I noticed this and stopped watching it because of this reason.

I dont watch sports and im not waiting for a tv show to throw us a bone and give us a token black character. The internet is ten times better anyways.

Some people are using fiction to temporarily escape the hell they are living in. Especially if they see no positives in the near future.
