if you have $20K, start a home daycare.. theres money in childcare.
A food truck.
iphone repair spot.. (thats the easy route)
western union and a wireless prepaid bill payment spot... you just need good credit and no criminal background for western union, A PC and stable internet connection to pay prepaid phone bills online.

One that you're passionate about. Starting a business isn't something you just do. So if you're coming here looking for ideas and not guidance for developing a plan to pursue a path you've already envisioned for yourself-- you've already failed. Not being negative brother. Just real.

Do your research on daycares. Daycares pretty much pay for itself but it's not as simple as one things. That state will be in your ass 10 fold if licenses and there's so many restrictions, things you would need to get done to your house or rental building as safety guidelines. Parents and their bs. Plus ratio of staff to kids. The more kids you have the more staff..supplies. I done did intensive researched and I decided not to open a daycare lol

It does take a lot of work to start up but 3 after 3 or so months of operating you should be on autopilot. $16K of 20K i mentioned is just getting the house up to code.. especially a second egress if you dont have it or need a door way made and a exit platform if you're doing it from a second floor. Home daycare only need like 2-3 minimum employees for 11-14 kids they let you have depending on what state you're in. State run food reimbursement programs help with the costs too.
