i can think of a few Prince albums i like more than PR

PR gets all the attention... no love for Sign O The Times?? all i ever hear about is damn Controversy and PR. how about Around the World or Dirty Mind??

frankly i fw every prince project up until the 90s before he started feeling himself too hard and recording every second of music he thought of. you gotta be able to self-edit, and when you own your own studio (paisley park) its easy to get lost in your work and just grind it out constantly. some better editing would've gotten us a couple more classics, IMO

Love PR. Prince’s catalog in general is phenomenal.

Not saying it’s better but Aquemini should always be mentioned when discussing Greatest Albums of all time

Man it really depends. White folks treat Sign O’ the Times like the 2nd coming on Sgt Peppers

But 1999 was always the one for us. I think Purple Rain is more of a middle ground where he met everyone’s tastes.

I agree.. it’s a masterpiece. His musicianship mixed with that burgeoning electronic sound set a a precedent for everything to follow.
At least you said it's a great album:mjcry:
An all time great… and one Purple Rain paved the way for.

I think Prince set a precedent with what a musician can do with electronic instruments. Something Teddy Riley would end up exemplifying.

You don’t get “How Deep Is Your Love” without “The Beautiful Ones” before it.
