Editor's note:It would help your understanding here if you had a little knowledge of sports world.

So I was on the phone with my Mama a li'l bit ago. When I finished talkin' to her she said: "Hold on, somebody else wants to talk to you..." And put my Pop on.

(context: Dad is not a phone conversation type of dude - and neither am I, really.

I talk to moms every week because I know she wants to hear from me, but i'm on the phone all day at work so I have no desire for OT phone chit chat. Even when I used to live at home and would talk to Dad on the phone, it was all business. So for us to be on the phone randomly is a rare occasion. I return you to the story already in progress.)

So Pop is givin' props because of the football game yesterday since we beat a team in his teams' way in the standings. We switch over to talkin' about baseball and the Giants. We are Dodgers fans, so that led us to talking about where they went wrong.

We talked about Magic Johnson spending hella money, and Pop said he knew Magic was rich but didn't know he was holdin' like that. He said "His wife...Cookie...I can't remember is she black?"

I said: "Yeah...all her life."

He said: "I couldn't remember, but I figured as much because if she was white she would've been took that money. Dem white ones marry for looks 4th; Money is #1-3..."

Ma in the background said: "Boy, hush...for all you know your son might be with a white girl..."

Pop said: "I ain't raised no fool, though. He ain't gon' slip like that..."

We started talking about something else after that and hung up after a couple more minutes.

But it made me think about how a parent can say one comment in passing and put chit on your mind. lol

Just a thought, or whatever I was feeling at the time.

Except I've dated 2 really good looking white women that were rich and had never dated any other black guys before.

It just didnt work b/c of bad timing.

But you saying what you said implies that black people are beneath white people somehow, to which I say to you, sit yo silly ass down somewhere.

So yes, you are a racist for that statement...but like many white people you try to squirm out of it with excuses.
