I just realized that most of the popular artists right now are kind of old.

The average age of rappers in the 80s and 90s used to be under 18-22
when u were around 25 ppl started thinking u were too old to be in the game. then somehow it had gone to the point now where the average age of the top sellers in rap are damn near 32. Out of the top albums of the past year or so, u got jay-z, kanye, Nas lil wayne, 2 chainz, ti, rick ross, nas.

all those guys are 30 or older
of the young guys drake is 26, i imagine, wiz is also around that age. currency gotta be near 30, J. Cole too at 28 as well as Cudi.
who is under 25 and hot out here and doing shyt?

so the average rapper is already way older than ever before
in fact you can almost say "where are the young guys?"

tell me a young dude near the top of the game selling records that is under 22 years old besides Mac Miller
there almost are NONE
that is what peopel are saying when they say time for these old guys to step aside
its gotten to the point that they keep putting out themselves are they are forgoing new talent
why u think chief keef popped up
hell the young kids were just happy to see another teenager like them, since they got tired of seeing nothing but 25+ year old dudes on the screen

I'm saying, all of the old school legends dropped classic albums whilst being teenagers. Kane, LL, Rakim, KRS, etc. that fact makes them more amazing.

This is one of the main reasons JayZ gettin' all this backlash here in the coli...

These old nikkaz don't wanna let go and admit there time been up... I'd also blame the record labels. No wonder mainstream rap all sound the same no matter where you from... nikkaz been in the game so much they've separated themselves from the real world and cant come up with new shyt....

Them Lo Lifes...
Its branding and generation recognition.

Cats who have had sucess at staying relevant at a time where your body of work would set precedent.

Now its about a album full of singles and artistic credibility is lost cuz labels wanna make a fast buck.

Not to mention the advances in technology doesn't help the majors.

Thats why its more og's than youngsters on top of the rap game.

It's like cats forgot those young dudes back in the day, were the first youths to grow up on hip hop.

people bringing up how Nas was 17, Snoop was 19 and Rakim couldn't even buy beer... yet forget that there wasn't really anybody before them....and that they paved the way.

wasn't no old nikkas like Busta sill grabbing for any ounce of relevancy and bullying their way onto tracks with young dudes to stay in the public eye.

On top of this, it's not like the NBA or NFL..where you retire or get pushed out cause you can't run, jump or move like you used to....as long as you're able to rap... you can do it for as long as you want to.

in every genre of music, there are more Older people than youth.... cause that's how it's supposed to be.

The average age of the premier rapper in the 90s has ALWAYS been between the ages of 21-25

Nas was 20-21 when he released illmatic

Big was 22 when he released Ready 2 Die

Pac was 20 when he dropped 2pacolypse.

Snoop was 22 when he dropped Doggystle

Mos nikkas aint trying to hear no teenage spit on the mic like that b. They tend not to be mature enough.

Edit: I dont know where nikkas always get those rumors that these young men were actually kids spitting all that raw shyt on the mic back in the day like that :heh:
