When you got a lot of time not getting p*ssy you tend to pick up on hobbies so I just started skateboarding.

Never skated as a kid but I'm in good shape so I figured I should try something new. :flabbynsick:

Anybody else new to skating or got any experiences when they first started?

I ain't even gonna attempted any tricks yet. I need to get more comfortable riding:whoa:

Hopefully you’re talking about skateboarding and not inline froot boots.

You’re never to old to have fun...I still skateboard. Lil Wayne started in his late 20’s. You’re not gonna be Koston or Hawk but you can still learn.

My advice would be to just skate around and get use to the feel, learn to keep balance.

Roll off some curbs. Learn how to keep yourself aligned with the board. Keep them shoulders straight.

Don’t jump right in to learning flip tricks, get comfortable with your Ollie.

And don’t carry that shyt around by the trucks.

I thought this was about roller skating on quads, which I do damn near every Sunday night at my local rink.

Another point, the frustration I see a lot of young peeps complaining that they can't find women, find some hobbies. Plenty of women roller skate and the common interest part is already there, you just have to introduce yourself. A lot of them are new to skating, helps even more.

Keep your shoulders squared with the board, lean forward, crouch down(bend your knees)

Remember to jump. Pop the shyt out the tail.

You should be on the balls of your foot.

As long as you are centered and over the board you’ll be able to keep balance when you land.

To me it’s easier to do while moving, but you can practice on grass to get the mechanics down.

I ain’t skated since last year been so busy
This thread got me feeling motivated to get out there and bust my ass some more, especially cause my hooping season starting late on account of my knee feelinv like it’s made of tissue paper
If you just learning just get comfortable riding around first

That’s smooth man. I used to skate a lot but after a couple broken bones I just cruise around now. I was able to tre flip a 6 set which isn’t that bad.

1. Get a solid board. Good trucks/ bearings/ wheels and get a board that’s comfortable with your feet. Some people like their trucks tight others like them loose. Find what fits for you but I would recommend slightly tight to learn the carve on turns.

2. learn how to ride goofy and regular. If you have both dominant lead legs then you’ll be able to do switch tricks with ease. One day practice with your left lead then the next your right.

3. Get skate shoes. If you plan on doing tricks you’ll run through shoes fast. Grip tape tears up skate shoes. I used to wear ES’s I’m not sure if they are available anymore it’s been some time

4. Injuries. You’ll fall. A lot. I broke my wrist so I always wear a wrist guard now. It looks wack but I’m not breaking it again. Elbows wrist ankles normally get broken. You’re shins will be busted up if you’re learning tricks. So just protect yourself

5. Bail often. If a trick isn’t feeling right, kick the board AWAY from you. Countless times I’ve learned the hard way and landed premo or off balance or on the tail. This usually applies to tricks if you have enough time to kick the board ( stairs, ramps)

6. Consistency. Skating is beyond frustrating But when you land your first trick for the first time it’s a wonderful feeling. Learn the Ollie PERFECTLY before trying other tricks. All tricks derive from the Ollie. Mastering it will streamline the basics.

Ollie
shove it
pop shove it
kick flip
heel flip.

That’s how I started. Best of luck and have fun man!
