The whole "women support homosexuals" generalization is just that, a generalization. Some genuinely do, some do because gay men are not seen as "sexual threats", some do because they believe gay men are less likely to be mysoginistic/patriarcal (some are, some aren't) and are thus objective allies against heterosexual men, etc. And then, some women don't support them at all. Pretty sure the percentages would be similar between men and women. Of course women will say they don't mind having a gay son, when's the last time you heard a woman say she wouldn't love her child lol. There's a higher social stigma on "bad mothers" than on "bad fathers". You'll also notice that often time when this support is talked about is women towards gay men. Their supposed support towards lesbians is much less talked about, because it's less of an strategic alliance. I've met lots of women who have gay male friends, much less who have lesbian friends.
