The same thing happened to me. Was working at a law firm as a dishwasher/cleanup person. They saw I was capable of more because I would fix things around the office like shredders and printers so they didn't have to call in outside vendors and pay money. They then offered me an IT support role with no experience and I shyt myself (not literally) and turned it down. They came back again and basically said take it. I got absolutely shyt faces the day before my first day as a tech which I don't recommend. Been in that role ever since and it's been very tough since I'm not very social, but my pay shot up, learned things I never thought I could, and can say I have a career now.

It's fear talking. Take the interview, be honest, but know that you can do much more than you think you can. It's all fear that's keeping you away breh. Acknowledge it and then do it anyway.

Sounds like made the mistake of not doing an intern or co-op.

and what about certs?
Ehh I have a tech entrepreneurship cert from the engineering dept at my uni. Doesn’t mean much apart from it being at my school; but I guess in a way it legitimizes my startup experience

No one is truly ready for anything breh. You have to jump in the water and learn to swim. I’ve been placed in positions where I was internally yelling WTF am I doing but I kept a cool composure throughout on the outside. Something you have to learn to control. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable, that’s the only way you can truly grow.

Cut the “I dont deseve” shyt out man. Your bosses :dame: wouldn’t be pushing you for it if they didnt think you could do the job. You wanted to just stay doing the same thing forever and not learn something new?

this. It’s not about what you deserve, this corporate world is ruthless. Take the fukking position and learn on the job. Your boss is clearly giving you the runway to do so.

Lemongrass, cherries, alkaline water
This situation is good for me now because it's in my favour but what happens when a decision is made a few years down the line that I should sit tight in my role when I actually want something more? I don't like that merit means so little when people have favourites. Does this mean I gotta kiss ass for the rest of my work-life to stay in these people's good books?

I know that this is just part of the game but it really sucks man.
I get it. I was recently promoted for a position I’ve really got no interest in. I wasn’t going to tell them “nah I dont want it”, because its a bigger check. Top of the year I’ll be looking for something else, those jokers dont know it but I damn sure do. Do your time, see if its something you can grow into and if not, there’s plenty of other opportunities out there.

Thread like these attract waste men like you like flies to shyt on why you don't have a job. In this market if you can't get a job is because you don't really want one.
All your posts concerning employment and careers are always negative with some type of stupid excuse like the above. At some point you must realize that you are the problem.

negged.
