You should be happy that you work for a company that's going out of their way to promote from within.

If you don't feel you have the skills for the job, ask them what training is available and see it as an opportunity to develop. This will actually put you in a better position for future offers as it shows initiative and a willingness to learn.

Thread like these attract waste men like you like flies to shyt on why you don't have a job. In this market if you can't get a job is because you don't really want one.
All your posts concerning employment and careers are always negative with some type of stupid excuse like the above. At some point you must realize that you are the problem.

Ehhh

Let’s slow down a bit here. A lot of employers aren’t hiring as much as they say they are. They’re either testing the market for 2022, trying to see how competitive the salaries are, see who’s willing to relocate, etc.

A lot of jobs are trying to get the best bang for their buck and give applicants lowball salaries. The narrative is really the COMPANIES are not looking to hire applicants.

If they can’t get someone for peanuts, they’ll just load the work on to their 5-10 employees.

Plenty of articles on this -

Bit of back story, there is a new role that's been created in my division and in the months leading up to it, my boss and his boss have been sounding me out for it in our catch-up meetings. My message has been pretty consistent in that I don't think I have the experience or skills to do that job and they've always told me to just "think about it"

Fast forward a few weeks, the post gets advertised publicly for people to apply.

So, I miss the deadline for applying and my manager's boss sets up a 1hr "catch-up" meeting with me. I already know we were gonna be discussing this new role and that's exactly what happened.

I've basically been told, in loosely uncertain terms, that this job is mine even though I've told them I don't think I deserve it, don't feel ready for it and missed the application deadline. This is basically some "offer you can't refuse" type shyt:mjtf:

At the risk of "counting my eggs before they hatch" the only way I see myself not getting it is if I show up to the interview drunk and start swearing at people because I was told I would be given "advice" before the interview too :snoop:

I've also got a 1-on-1 meeting with the Head of the division later this week. You know, the guy who signs off on all appointments/promotions:snoop:

They talk all this shyt about "fair" selection processes and procedures which I've always known was BS but now I'm seeing it first hand and becoming part of this bs system too.

Sure, as far as problems go, this is not a bad one to have but this shyt stinks to me. There's people applying for this role not knowing that a decision has already been made and it feels wrong. fukk MAN, what a farce!

TLDR: It's been strongly hinted to me that I'll be getting a promotion I don't feel ready for and that I don't think I deserve.
The IT manager where I did contract work wanted to hire me for no reason other than he liked how I worked and got along with people. (I got hired at another job that paid less but was permanent when I worked there.) He didn't know me for maybe over a month, and I bombed the hell out of the interview. I basically just showed up at my lunch break to get get it over with since there was no way I would get that position. They still offered me the job, and the job I had gave me a raise so I wouldn't leave.

Before that happened I had been turned away and sent packing so many times that I didn't have any of these sentimental feelings you are having. Life isn't about qualifications. That's the lie people told you so you would keep working hard racking up student loan debt.

There's nothing wrong with having favor. They know and they trust you, so that job has your name on it. If you turn it down, you are just throwing your blessing away.

Edit: I don't have a single IT certification, but I'm an Integration Specialist.

It is… A chick that I work with is dumb as a fukking rock and this chick just got promoted to a job within the company paying like 95k a year. I personally feel like the other women in our company should be offended. She has a nice ass and a pretty face but she has horrible grammar and she didn’t perform well in her previous position.

There was a breh on her team that applied for the same job and has been with the company for years with a Master’s… Dude is a rockstar and got passed over for her, he put in his two week notice.

Bad bytches are always gona get promoted. That’s a given. You need bad bytches to disarm and other men during meetings

Look at EY & Deloitte. Tons of baddies.

People up the management chain want to bring you up and you turning it down? Even if you don't feel you are ready, take the job and have those same managers set you up with a company mentor, training resources, and a management coach.

These opportunities are far and few between, especially if you're a breh.

Even if you interview for a position that you dont get, the company and recruiter may reach out to you later for other roles (or even that role, in the circumstance that the person they originally hired doesnt work out in short time)

I got my current job that way. Interviewed for 1 position that an internal candidate already had been picked for, but they loved me. another position opened up a few months later, they brought me back in as the only candidate. Got fast tracked thru interview process and hired quickly.
