I know I ain't trippin...somebody tell me about this calm lands on Final Fantasy 10

I could've swore when I first played this game on the ps2, the calm lands had the actual enemies running around that you can see. If you wanted to fight them, you just walk up to them.

I'm playing it on the PS4 Remaster and nobody is in the calm lands.

Wtf?
