I lost out on a six figure job with potential to 130,000$ because I don’t feel comfortable around white ppl

Long story short

Put in my time in trucking. Safe record. Only 2 companies. 10 years experience

Finally got a call from a company, in another niche in trucking.

Very serious company they only take experienced drivers and expect you to know alot already, which I did.

They train you for the specific niche. Training alone was $1500 a week

Only issue, the two trainers were white. And a good portion of the office ppl were as well

Don’t get me wrong, they were nice. Like extremely nice. And go out of their way to make all of the trainees(5 of us) comfortable.
There were also a decent amount of blk ppl who worked there

But me personally, I just get way too uncomfortable around white ppl that I could never truly relax. By the 3rd week I started getting WORSE in the training. I couldn’t concentrate every day we wake up I couldn’t settle down knowing two white men were watching my every move.

And it was all in my head.

I eventually went home.

In the usa, the higher up the ladder you go, the more white people you will have to deal with.

Even your house is white if you take the top rank in the country

Yeah, but everybody who ain't the 1% still has to play the game. Don't matter what color you are, special privilages is reserved for the bosses' son.

So should all black men avoid high paying jobs that has mostly white people? What would that leave us with? You need experience and capital to start your own business.

He felt uncomfortable so he left, so obviously he didn't need the bread that's a flex. If you need these high paying jobs tho keep your head down and take your black ass to work

I don't know how serious this thread is but the higher you go, unless you are in a minority owned company, you will find yourself in rarefied air in terms of melanin surrounding you.

I'm the highest paid minority in terms of from an administrative standpoint in the entire company where I work. I'm the controller, I know what everyone makes so I'm aware of that fact. Furthermore, it's not uncommon to see various members of the senior leadership in my office, working with me on some initiatives.

Ultimately, the higher you go, the less you tend to see of us. It's be nice to be able to share experiences with someone that looked like me here but I've never been able to do it.

As black men we have to get over this. MLK, Malcolm, John Lewis, Rosa Parks and all our other Civil Rights activists fought so we can have these high paying jobs.

It doesn't hurt to try something then leave for other opportunities if it doesn't work out.
