This reminds me of myself when I was younger.
I've turned down jobs that either paid a bigger salary or had better workplace benefits because I didn't work in places that were either majority white, or the bosses and people calling the shots are White.
It wasn't due to being uncomfortable but rather a pride thing. I don't know, naturally, the thought of taking orders and being subservient to cacs till this day has just never sat well with me. Everything just clicks differently when working among Black people, compared to Cacs.
Although I've made a living in the food industry, as a culinary sous chef, to be exact, my field is different in that it's easier to find work environments where Black people are the majority within the culinary and food industry.
I sense a lot of y'all likely work in corporate, cubicle office, etc type of settings which tend to be filled with white coworkers and bosses outnumbering Black people, so you ain't got no choice but to submit some pride for your financial livelihoods.
