I was speaking more in terms of status and place in the culture. He is the new HOV.

You cant really compare Drakes impact to hov yet. Drake is basically HOV before he released Blue Print II.

I would say HOV's prime is Big Pimpin/Best of Me part 2 days.

I think Drake as a Big Pimping type smash single in him.

Drake has an odd and very well put style where he turns his rap verses into melodies that almost seem R&Bish but what it reall y is.. is that he has this superior talent of writing verses and creating new catchy soothing melodies

Prime example of this is his 305 to My City verses

Those 2 verses when u listen to those verses u almost forget its a rap song but in actuality he is actually rapping...Drake has formed his own style...i dont think its fair to call him the new jay

Drake is on the way to creating his own legacy

But to get to the question of the thread, I truly dont believe so, I think since every thing is public 24/7 its hurts the artist, they dont have this greatness or mystery about them, I feel its rappers who can drop music as good, but I dont think it will be a rapper who means more to the culture as them
