they were more skilled than a lot of fighters in lighter wright classes are today.
I think this is one of the biggest fallacies I see spouted about the state of American boxing.Yesterday's american heavyweights are today's forwards, DL & linebackers
The skill has left and gone elsewhere![]()
Who was the British Canadian?I think this is one of the biggest fallacies I see spouted about the state of American boxing.
What does boxing skill have to do with football and basketball skills? They are not translatable whatsoever. Anthony Joshua and Wilder are probably the most athletic heavyweights in the division, yet Fury is clearly the best of the heavyweights based on pure skill.
Being an athlete in boxing can only take you so far. Ultimately it's about skill and the will to win. The 90s was the best era for heavyweight boxing imo and that was dominated by a British-Canadian for the most part.
The era when US heavyweights were dominant, there wasn't as much global participation in the sport.
Lennox Lewis..Who was the British Canadian?
Did not know he was brit-canadianLennox Lewis..

Came to say this but didn’t want to hurt anyones feelingsBut the two heavyweights that hold the belts right now are arguably as 'skilled' as any heavyweight from any era![]()

Uskyk maybe, but Fury is a freak of nurture. His Size + Skill would be trouble for anyone, but dudes tend to have nostalgia bias when it comes to the past. The entire division was full of talented and skilled guys. Fury and Usyk would be contenders but wouldn't be dominant standouts like today.

Fury is 6'6''. Bowe was around the same size and was even more skilled. He is nothing we haven't seen before.
