The powers that be should've paired a currently famous artist's cover of OT Genasis' "Coco" with last year's release of "Cocaine Bear."

He hinted at something but didn’t say it directly: a lot of times soundtrack singles are the biggest hits of an artist’s career.

You could say the first ever platinum record was from a soundtrack - it was from an opera, though.

(^ The original by him from 1904 is the first plat record; this is the film version)

The reason this used to happen was that the Film and TV Companies started their own music labels strictly to sell music
to advertisers their projects. Over time, the Music Game became just as big as the movies, doe. It’s no surprise that those who truly understood
this connection are some of the biggest success stories in music:

- Elvis made 31(!) movies, and of course a lot of his music accompanied them. And this happened around the time TV and Movie Theaters all over were becoming common.
- There was a point in Prince’s career when he made almost as many soundtracks as solo studio albums (Purple Rain, Parade, Batman, Graffiti Bridge).
- Death Row probably made more soundtracks than anything else…btw Deep Cover Soundtrack was literally the beginning of Death Row
- Eminem and 50 Cent basically followed the Purple Rain script and got extra sauce from having biopics after their already huge albums.

So why does it seem like this doesn’t happen as much anymore? There’s not the same synergy anymore.
”Pop” Culture isn’t really the same because everyone gets their information/entertainment form varied outlets now.
