As to be expected UK Gov sites are tired, try giving your advisor a call and if need be ask to speak to the JC+ line or most senior manager, and they should be able to help, however the bus fare excuse even if true might not wash, however you should be entitled to travelcard, oyster, or bus pass discounts.

Their so hell bent on catching benefit cheats, and saving money that they go overboard.

In any case utilize the JC, you could be on a programming course (any course for that matter) that they will help pay for, however they are real good at not telling you anything.

However be prepared for the shock of emergency tax fukking your shyt up if and when you find work.
