Brooklyn?!?!?!?

Holy cow! I have heard so much about Brooklyn from my favorite rap tunes

What's it really like?
Is it really like, um, dangerous everywhere?
It's nothing like Saskatchewan I've heard

Yall shytting on fam lmao, I haven't "lived" in Sacramento since I was 9, I'm now 32, and as an adult I've spent two entire summers back there as well as about 5 or 6 different trips and established relationships...

In the time since I last had a Sac "address" at 9, I've lived in LA, Atlanta, metro DC, Memphis, Charlotte, and about 6 or 7 other places...

So I'm not "from" Sacramento in the same sense as those who spent their entire adolescence there, or people who are around my age in their 30s and have never left. But I'm also familiar enough with the city, ton of relationships, it's home and always will be...

This may not exactly be like OP but if he's been to Brooklyn enough to know how to get around without directions in some spots (like me in North Sac), he can claim BK...
There's a big difference between age 3 and 9. At 9 years old, you are aware of the world around you. Most people can't remember a single clear memory from when they were 3. Also, in the hood, hella kids hopping off the porch at like 9. Even if you don't hop off the porch yourself, you are probably aware of the predicament of your peers your age living next door to you.

Also, by 9 years old, you've probably already made lifelong allegiances to local sports teams if you from somewhere that is fanatical about the home team (i.e. Philly and the Eagles). Made lasting childhood friends who you still keep in contact with. Have formed a distinct regional accent because you been talking for years. Have formed a regionally distinct fashion sense from watching to your older siblings, cousins and OG's in the neighborhood.

Serena Williams moved outta Compton at age 9, and no one told her to stop C Walking 10 years ago.

The Brooklyn Boy is home: :wow:

I was born on 17th street close to Prospect Park but my family moved out when I was 3 when my dad got his job at Phizer, lived in Connecticut, and then Rockland County in NY, and finally Georgia for the last 18 years. But after getting transferred to a new agency for my job in advertising I'm back where I belong :blessed:
When I left Brooklyn and had to find cheaper living in the Bronx, moving back to Brooklyn felt like such an accomplishment. I love it here and there’s no where in this country I’d rather be

Thought you lived in Texas or something. How is Brooklyn now compared to when you use to live there? More condos huh?

I miss living in Brooklyn. That was definitely the the best place I've ever lived in.
:wow:

You went from Pittsburgh (currently ~22.9% black, '20 Census), to Brooklyn (~28.1% black), to Denver (~9.2% black). Describe the contrasts and similarities in the black experience of all three (as well as anywhere else you've lived)!
