For whatever back in the day, I never checked for these cats and I was a huge Ruthless Records fan (from the N.W.A. albums to the Eazy-E albums to The D.O.C.) but for some reason I never got around to really checking out their albums.

What's the best place to start with their albums. Which albums are the must have and what are their best overlooked songs and features?

I recommend that you listen to the releases in order. If listen to them out of order you won't sense the progress in the game they spittin'.

Livin' Like Hustlers
Vocally Pimpin' EP
Black Mafia Life
(listen to Kokane "Funk Upon A Rhyme" here)
Uncle Sam's Curse
Time Will Reveal
Legends

you don't have to listen to the last two...but if you're into it by then (and you will be), you can finish up with Big Hutch "Executive Decisions". If you fuccs wit' G-Funk, you will kick yourself for waiting this long to listen to these.

^^ yup, start at the beginning

kokane dropped an album in 91 or so under the name "who am i"

you might remember the joint "nickel slick" from the deep cover soundtrack, think it had a video too

In order is probably best even tho Uncle Sams Curse is generally thought of as their best album. I like Time Will Reveal as well, pretty much all their albums range from dope to classic

Thanks! I really appreciate it. Yeah, I've been a fan of G Funk since way back when. Plus, I'm a fan of Funk music in general.

I remember first hearing Kokane back in the day on some of Eazy E's stuff back in the day. But he's another somebody who's album I never checked out so I'm glad I'm finally getting around to it. Thanks again.

These cats albums and their run in Hip Hop is among the best. I finally finished listening to all of their albums, these cats know their music. They know how to make songs and they know what it takes to make great albums.

Big Hutch is right up there with Dr. Dre and DJ Quik with the production, that cat is something else with the mixing, mastering, and producing the beats.
