Ok, so the mc is my cousin, reef manning.

I bought a camera so that I can do videos for him and other peeps around here that mc. This is only my 2nd vid, so I am by no means a pro and I have alot to learn...I freely admit that. I just want to see what you all think of it. It's not the complete video, he only wanted to do trailer for now. And by the way, all the scenes were shot in 1 bedroom. We just used different walls in the room, to make it appear as different places.

The link is below.

I don't know much about making videos, so I really don't know what I'm supposed to be looking for to critique it.

It doesn't look terrible.

Thanks Giselle. i saw a video by c-styles that peeps were critiquing something vicious, so I wanted to see how folks would respond to this. I appreciate your response, for real.

Im gonna ask you: What's the purpose of the effects? The nightvision, the binoculars etc? They make it look very random like you just went through the software and selected an effect and threw it on there. I'd go back and map out your vision of what you want it to look like then reshoot it honestly, just to give it a better flow.
I like the shadow shot when he's rapping tho I'd keep that one in there, but tell him to be more animated on it so it doesn't look like he's just starring at the mic.

I appreciate that. To answer you, I did actually go through and randomly picked effects, to bring the footage out some. And yes, it is random but on purpose, it's what he wanted. I do plan to go back and pretty much storyboard it out and go back and redo it. I am sure he will not want to reshoot it but I can rework the footage we have. I also agree with he is too stiff and is doing pretty much the same thing in each of the scenes. Keep in mind tho, this is only our 2nd video, so we will get better as we go along. I appreciate the feedback, it's on point.

Pretty good for only your second vid. Its good that you experimented with a lot of the editing effects so I dont mind it, youll learn which styles work for you and your concepts. I would say to scale back a bit on the contrast for some of the scenes, as it makes the images look cartoonish, I would do the same when I started. What camera are you shooting on?

Can you elaborate on why? I don't know much about lens other than Canon lenses and I shot with a prime 50mm and a kit 18mm-50mm. But please, elaborate, i appreciate it.

you know how you have to stand pretty far back away from a person when you want to put their entire body in frame when you're using your 50mm, with the 11-16mm, you can get full body shots without being so far away.

here's a quick vid explaining things (briefly)

I appreciate the video link. I looked up the lens and it's not cheap...I'm gonna see if I can find a good used one. I appreciate the pointers.

no problem fam, that's something you don't immediately need to buy tho, the 50mm is one of the best lens you can get for the money, it's the first lens I purchased.

once you get more comfortable with the camera and two lenses you have, then you can move beyond those. that T2i is a nice cam and puts out some amazing quality videos.
