So yeah, I've been an organ donor for god knows how many years now, probably since I became legally eligible, whenever that period commences. But yeah, it's a great cause, I think everyone eligible should do it. But I do have a problem with it though at the moment. I'm not sure exactly what the rules are specifying who receives the organs when an organ donor dies.
I mean, I can see why that would be ambiguous for a lot of reasons. If Hitler was an organ donor and he couldn't be bothered* to start a politicial movement then maybe AH just goes and drinks two bottles of wine a night and three packs of smokes every day of his life and specifies his organs have to go to sick Jewish kids. It's not implausible.
And that's only the negative side of discrimination, without even getting into the whole clusterfukk of people demanding their organs only be given to members of their own ethnic group, gays wanting to see their sex organs keep on trucking down the right road long after they hit their last pit stop, and weird spousal Angelina Jolie-type stuff I don't even want to get into.
So what I want to know is though is, can I specify my organs be delivered to a non-specific person with a specific type of need? Cos I've been thinking about throwing myself into a woodchipper or under a steamroller recently and the only way my organs could be used after that I guess is if they went into a soup for someone who can't eat solids.
So if anyone on the coli can help me with this, that'd be great.
*(which is understandable I think, I mean for most people. Maybe not for a decorated war hero like Hitler, but maybe if he doesn't become a decorated war hero in World Way One, perhaps he doesn't cause World War 2? Maybe it changed the course of history.)
