it's a vibrant city with rich swahili culture... good nightlife, people are generally friendly (especially compared to kenyans, who i also got love for) and the infrastructure is pretty good. i like it more than nairobi, but less than mombasa.
the booty game out there is indeed as advertised...
you can't go to dar and not go to zanzibar, though
put it like this: dar is to zanzibar as miami is to miami beach. zanzibar got one of the GOAT beaches
