There are some albums I just never got around to listening to

Good points but you do realize Cuban Linx was a movie on wax right? It was soo descriptive from beginning to end. Production wise yea it may have been the first time multi producers were used on Illmatic, but Rza's production on Cuban LinxRZA was really in a zone.
thanks but those are facts i used to answer your question.
also bringing up cuban linx as a "movie" only solidifies the reason that illmatic >>> cuban linx.
illmatic is raging bull and cuban linx is goodfellas when it comes to the reality and fictional aspects
I consider it the greatest hip hop album of all time.Well Cuban Linx aged better than Illmatic but truth is if you won't listening around that time it may be hard for you to even understand it.There are some albums I just never got around to listening to![]()

I never understood how Biggie won lyricist of the year over Nas.![]()

Does anyone have a link to the Cuban Linx album
I've heard of it but never listened and am shocked to see anyone compare it to Illmatic (one of my favorite hip hop records of all time)
Do you think less of It Was Written then? It was a concept album...just like OBC4L sorta was.
I think the artform and execution is more important than whether or not what they are rapping about is true or false. It's not so much what you say, but how you say it no?

How the fukk are you a hip hop fan & you've never listened to Cuban Linx before?Love Illmatic, but I go back to Cuban much more. It's such a fukking beautiful album. Beats, rhymes, skits...I consider it the greatest hip hop album of all time.

to be fair, rae was more ready to drop an album than nas was. rae had a bit of experience with making an album and he was around other people that had experience as well. nas on the other hand was a first timer and illmatic wasn't even the way that it was intended to be released. didn't they say that illmatic was rushed simply because some bootleggers had the album on deck, ready to drop that shyt before it hit the streets?

Can't go wrong with OB4CL
I go back to OB4CL a lot more too. Not a single weak track on there and the album is pretty cohesive, and it felt more complete. Rae and Ghost are one hell of a duo![]()
