Not implying it was the best thing since sliced bread either , but I always thought that the narrative that Vista was ass was some ol hive minded shyt .... I haven't used Vista since I was like 12/13 though so maybe I was too young to see what was wrong at the time , but I do recall my PC games running smooth and efficiently on there with zero problems , I never got any viruses throughout my whole time using Vista nor was it difficult to navigate and locate files , yet windows 8 got a pass despite that shyt being all over the place interface wise:jbhmm: ...... so enlighten me brehs what was so mediocre about Vista to the point that it only got such a brief run :jbhmm:

Windows 7 ain't nothing but Vista Service Pack 2

The problem with Vista is that PCs weren't ready hardware wise for it coming from XP which is highly overrated

yup, I got an early i7 and it ran fine for me. Was far less buggy than XP was in the beginning, but still had driver issue. Ran great on my rig though

Windows Vista was released at a time when laptops were starting to become cheap. manufacturers were selling vista laptops with 512MB or 1GB of RAM and low-end celeron processors that sucked, vista was bloated especially with pre-installed crapware, I think if Microsoft had mandated that all Vista machines had a minimum of 2GB memory then they wouldn't have gotten so much complaints.

this thread deserves a buck 50 across the face.

vista made me a semi-permanent mac user from a pc enthusiast who used to build his own desktops.

1. Vista was the transition period from 32 to 64 bit
2. Windows 8 was the transition from mouse + keyboard to touch and beyond

Vista was trash with everything until the service pack. After the service pack, shyt was perfectly fine. But it took MS a year or so to fix shyt. It was nowhere near as bad as the win 8 fiasco, but it was still bad. M$ seems to be back on track now though (win 10 is very good)

I wouldn't say XP is overrated , maybe in hindsight because technology has advanced heavy since it's initial run , but during it's prime years it's easily one of the best OS ever , and even if you use it now , you'd probably enjoy it more than the other OS's because it consumes less RAM than other OS especially if you consider how much space hardware/memory has in comparison to back then .

It was beyond :trash:

I was working in the computer department at Fry's electronics when it came out . We offered customers to get it replaced with XP free of charge it was so bad :scust:No one wanted to deal with it.

The hype building-up prior to its release for it to only flop made its reputation worse.

Main problem with Vista was that Microsoft had retardedly low hardware requirements for Vista and ended up putting it on lots of computers that weren't actually fast enough to run it decently. So it ended up running like crap out of the box.

That and driver issues.
