I never understood why certain athletes don't allow their likeness in video games?

:aicmon: this doesnt apply to people worth hundreds of millions
Not like they're hurting for money but it's basically free money to be in a video game

They're celebrities their likeness is already out there breh
They're not compromising any values they just want more money
Nothing wrong with that if u not hurting for money just saying it's an easy check

So u just gonna ignore me addressing that already :francis:

Griffey Kobe and Shaq had their own games which is why they weren't represented in games until after their games went away.

Jordan and Bonds was never down with the agreement between the NBAPA, MLBPA and the video game providers so they never signed on. Same with Barkley and thats why he still isnt in games.

Jordan didn't start being in games until EA threw hella money at him and even after that he got cash and ran until 2K came at him and threw a 10 year contract his way which basically put the game around him. Thats why he was on the cover for like three years straight and making him the player of the game award, putting his shoes front and center and really IMO is the reason they started making you have to use currency in the game. You used to be able to play and eventually unlock the shoes and then they started the currency thing where you had to build it up but if you wanted you could purchase it off the top for a fee and make your My Player a beast and have the shoes from the begining.

Jordan was always about protecting his brand and he built an empire off of it. Barkley probably could never get the money that his good friend Jordan hot so he said "fukk it".

What you said makes NO sense, and is only for the worse. You sounding like Lavar Ball at the moment.
If you are into sports (don't ask me how, I just sense you're not) then you grew up playing sports games. Back in the day, they wouldn't have player likeness at all because graphics sucked. No need to get licensing.. then eventually they did and it was cool as fukk. Nobody looked or played like the real players, but the immerision/imagination.. it was just good fun. We grow up, some ppl wanna get paid too much to be in a videogame that is for kids and nowadays adults too. EA is getting paid to the point they could pay more for likeness. But at the same time the athlete is wrong to thing Madden sells because any one player is in the game :stop: Same with 2K, infact, 2k has the bullshyt where if a player gets injured you can't use him online til he gets healthy again :wtf: I get the sentiment but I don't think it makes anysense unless we trying to simulate a real full season :hula: Anyway... back to my point, no single player will make or break a sports videogame.

As for the deals angle you talked about, you saying Konami will low ball a nikka cuz he was in a Madden game and that its just business? GTFOH. Kobe was in every game prior to this one.. why did Nintendo make Kobe Bryant NBAbasketball for the N64?
Because he was the man at the time. They wouldn't say "EA only paid you this much". And, the people you named, none of them went on to have games, so it was loss revenue for them, and a loss for gamers/fans of those players who wanted to use them in their games. I take my daughter to Wizards games, she loves basketball because of this. If she couldn't use Wall or Beal (and these nikkaz makeing 85 & 128mil respectively) and the reason was because they wanted more money :dahell:

Jordan was making 30mil a year his final 3/4yrs which is odd since salary caps today don't allow that much :dwillhuh:
He was highest paid athlete from Nike and Endorsements
Unlike Lavar Ball negotiated his own line with Nike backing it (Jumpman)
But still was against him being in games til 2K came along (making him the cover guy) and probably threw extra $$$
Jordan is known as a shytty human being tho so none of this is surprising...

Aight.

First thing I did as a kid every year was check to see if Jordan was in the game. For some reason i just KNEW he would be in in NBA live 97...no idea why I was optimistic about that.

Go to the Bulls, see "Roster Guard" number 99, 6'4" and Im just like :mjcry:

Some money > no money
you can't expect Michael Jordan to come to your birthday party for $100 because "Some money > no money" :comeon:

I'm sure some bench warmers were happy to get that video game money though

They want to be compensated separately from the crumbs given to the players/coaches association for the collective rights.

Some money > no money

Some people feel there names are worth more than the shared agreement..
ie. any big name athelete .. which is also why the sometimes have their own game

Nothing in life is free. In this case they are giving up their own likeness. I can think of few things in life more valuable than that.
If they don't feel like they are being compensating fairly it makes perfect sense to turn it down, or they might not have any interest in being portrayed in a video game. A remember seeing a DMX interview where he was upset about his compensation for allowing his likeness to be used in the Def Jam game. He basically said they gave him close to nothing. Bottom line is, some people have values and won't break them for money.
Ain't Dmx still on crack? So you're telling me he decided to pick up his moral compass & care about image when someone asked him to be in a video game? But image & morals didn't stop him from putting his life in a downward spiral, by chasing a high? :gucci:
