I'm gonna give it an honest review
First off, the game is very much like recore
2nd, the genre is unique as it tries to be different than any of genre of gaming which is good... But at times gave me the feeling I was playing an arcade title instead of a full budgeted game, once again having something else in common with recore. Both games are destined to be underrated.
What now does well isn't really something nier deserves credit for imo. It makes you backtrack thru the game 3,4x to complete it. Now to gamers who like doing fukkboy shyt like that? You in fukkboy heaven. The play throughs are different every time, and because you know your environments it leads to interesting battles your next go thru. Now where this game shines is you can't speed run thru the game and call it a day. The game forces you to engage. Forces you to play thru it multiple times to get the ending (s) so you learn the universe. That isn't something gamers do today. Especially on the Sony side where its all about hyping the next game then moving on to the next game 2weeks later. Nier forces you to enjoy it (or hate it)
Other games would get the same treatment if gamers didn't rush thru them. The truth is most games released these days are decent. The ones hyped the most get played the most. Battlefield 1 vs Titanfall2 is a good example.
So in conclusion, Nier is a decent game. Forces gamers to slow down and smell the roses. But, is the type of game that appeals to ladyboys mostly so it won't be shyt moving forward. Recore is similar but with way less homoerotic task.
