Some Christians are being led by false prophets. It is important to stay in the word so you can discern between right and false teachings.
We often reinterpret G-d in our image and impress our feelings, perspectives, and beliefs onto Him. What G-d finds interesting has already been stated in his word.
(I know you are agnostic but I've seen some believers say similar things.)
From a religious perspective. When we orient our hearts towards G-d, we begin to walk Christ's path. And because of Christ we've been grafted into Life and into G-d's Grace. This is what makes the Christian righteous, and what makes him/her a Saint, they are under G-d just as Christ is.
G-d is an entity that (1) gives Life to the dead, and (2) brings things into existence that don't yet exist through His word (check Romans). So, when G-d made those who followed Him through His Son, Christ, the "elect", or the "chosen", or the "saints" (all Christians obedient to Christ and striving to be more like Christ and the Father), they were made important to G-d, and so they are interesting to Him as He explains in various passages and parables like the feast for the elect.
A quick, human example:
Even though we aren't G-d, we still find creatures like Ants interesting. Even though we made structures/marvels greater than an Ant, we still are impressed by the structures Ants build.

I personally don't think a Supreme being would concern itself with what is happening on this planet. With the possibility of the universe being infinite and there maybe being an infinite number of universes, I would think a possible 11 dimensional being would not even consider us important. I feel too many humans allow their ego to to drive them into the narcissistic idea that the Creator of All is concerned about their lives.
