That fear is so bad around here, I swear. One of these days I was walking home with my friends, a white guy passed us by and they were all ''okay, just a guy walking by.'' Not even five minutes later, a couple of black guys come walking down the street, everyone started walking real quick like, ''they're coming to get us! They're gonna rob us!''

I can't speak for the whole country. And we were walking down a creepy neighborhood and it was getting dark so everybody was already kinda jumpy. The thing is, when most people imagine the ''stereotypical robber'', they imagine a shabbily dressed black guy from one of the favelas, usually riding a bike or a motorbike. That's the stereotype and stereotypes have a kind of strength, that when people look at two perfectly harmless guys going about their business, they don't see them, they see the stereotype.

Now these are the same people who swear they're not racist, mind you, they would get terribly offended if anyone called them racist. If you asked them about it, they would all say racism is wrong and bad, but the problem is that they do these sorts of things and don't think of it as racism.
