Does anyone here know someone who identifies as black, but considers someone like Donald trump a viable presidential candidate? The idea of wanting to conserve the status quo, or even go backwards is something I struggle with. Why? I'm genuinely curious about the psychology of a black conservative.

Well, Donald Trump isn't really a conservative and I think black people are and can be conservative in many ways. I don't think anyone would admit to being a conservative because of the image associated with the Republican party. Anyone saying they are conservative because of Trump is just being silly.

I'm not huge on labels but I would consider myself theoretically consevative for the sake of your question. The fed government does way too much (or rather pretends to). However, I could never rally or rock a bumper sticker . In the end, I'd say any true black conservative is an anarchist at best.

I know a couple... but they dont specifically bother me. I do not like the idea that if you are black and not a Democrat that you are automatically crazy. Maybe its because i have always played devils advocate and i do not like being put in a box.

What i think that is FAR more damaging to us as a black race is our blind stanning of the Dems. And it is literally stanning. Its like we do not even consider other points of views.

I think that we need to pull back from them. They take our vote for granted. We throw it to them for FREE. the few black conservatives out there are not really hurting nobody. I would rather we consider all points.

Case in point. I was listening to the Karen Hunter show on friday on Sirius on my drive home. Black political talk. She was on with Toure. They were taking calls from black people who support Trump. Wanted to hear their points. I loved that topic! A honest dialogue


What happened. A caller would start speaking... karen would start YELLING 5 seconds in.. cut off the callers. Ask.

Karen - Why do you believe in trump?

Caller - well i really dont like hillary because she....

Karen - WHY WHY WHY? GIVE ME 3 REASONS WHY NOT?

Caller - well. I dont trust her cause of ..

Karen - TRUMP SAID THAT HE WANTS TO BUILD A WALL!! YOU ACTUALLY SUPPORT THAT????

Caller - . i was going to say that Hillary is not trustworthy to me because..

Karen - SEE THEY CANT ANSWER THE QUESTION! ALWAYS FLIP IT ON HER BUT CANT DEFEND HIS POSITIONS

That is the dialouge with us. I personally dont like being pigeon holed into one group. There are some conservative ideas i actually like and support. Some liberal ideas i like too. So i vote or not vote with my conscious on both sides of the ticket.

This idea that we have to be one or the other is foolish.

Well, at least in the US, the conservative party is wildly racist and antagonistic towards black people (if you don't believe me, go on any conservative message board and read any post or thread about black people) and they drum up white resentment to get votes, so you really have to question the self-respect of any black person that wants to associate with them.

I was watching a video on youtube about black trump supporters and really all they kept saying was "he's trying to unite us instead of dividing us with race" "everything doesn't have to be about race" "Donald trump is trying to free us instead of make us dependent on the government" I'm insulted by people because I support Trump" I heard very little in the way of WHY someone would actually support him, like what policies does he have that would actually benefit black people? I can understand having different opinions, but when it boils down to it I'm not hearing anyone giving reasons for why the republican party is one that's worth supporting, especially when often in their camps there is a vocal disdain for black people. Not all conservatives are racist, but in my experience most racists are conservative.

as far as black conservatives, i don't have a problem with them when they stick to a true conservative/script/values instead of acting like c00ns and bootlickers.

- the media
- education
- mainstream

and have used these platforms to run a 40-50yr long smear campaign against conservatives

so take that into consideration when you're contemplating the world

conservatism isn't about worshiping god or arguing about abortion nonstop, these are small fringe issues that the media blows up to make all conservatives look bad

actual right wing ideology (not the kind you see on TV) is mostly about individualism

I don't like telling people what their views are or what to think, but i do insist that they get informed on BOTH sides and come to a rational conclusion. Most people will end up somewhere in the middle, only dikkheads end up on the extreme end of the spectrum on either side

"Conservative" is such a broad fluff term it doesn't really mean anything at this point. Same as "liberal."

i used to read tony brown's journal and watch and listen to his pbs broadcasts and found his message balanced and conservative without being an azz kisser.
