Honestly in terms of it's production I don't see people's big problem with it. Yes, I know in 2015 people want to see the Wu release an album of head smacking grimey music but realistically RZA isn't at that place anymore, but if you take it as it is and accept that you're not getting another 36 Chambers then musically I find it very enjoyable, especailly the throw back to 60s/70s southern soul and there's lots of quality live musicanship and arrangements. Plus there are still some classic grimey Wu joints on there like Necklace and Pioneer....
There's a couple of weak tracks but musically I think it's a good album.
The problem as was the case on 8 Diagrams are some of the half assed verses and lack of chemistry from the Wu. There's not many verses that stand out, and it feels like they're all going through the motions. On top of that the hooks are pretty weak for the most part.
But all in all I think it's a solid record and they certainly didn't embarass themselves like some vets have.
