I think black folks need to leave the city more often and connect with mother nature. We love the city too much

We talk about mental health all the time, but nobody ever mentions just getting out in nature. Don't get me wrong, I like the city too, but I think shyt weighs on your mind at some point. The constant stunting on each other, going into debt for unnecessary things, and being on social media 24/7.

Mother nature cures a lot and I feel like that's the demise with the hood, nobody leaves the block and travel nowhere. Everybody acts stuck in that terrible environment which results that constant terrible mindset, instead of hitting up a lake or national park for a few days to clear your head. Or hit up a farm for a few weeks to keep yourself busy and occupied

Check out Outdoor Afro. It's an outdoor group for Black folks. They have chapters in most major cities.

It's a bunch of women. Usually when they get groups like that it's not exactly what you expect.

I'd rather an organic group of friends.

Anyway been hiking with my other half for a few years now, about once or twice a month. My friends every few months.

More and more are breaking the mold (that's white people shyt is the most common stereotype) I will say country black folk in the south do the same type of things that most "adventurous" white people do (ex. fishing, boating, going in the woods, etc.)

Not here in DC. It's equal across genders and half of the group leaders are Black men. But hear you. Definitely a different vibe when you go with your people.
