Gentrification is real in LA too but they still producing talent. NYC is just going through a drought.

Yes there is gentrification in L.A, but most people that move from those areas generally stay in Southern California; LA County, Riverside County, OC etc

Where as in New York City a lot of those families that that moved from those gentrified neighborhoods moved out of the city completely. Many migrating down south to florida or the virginas or simply just moving to new Jersey because the cost of living is more affordable

So yes, gentrification absolutely played a huge role in killing NYC hip-hop

Reason NYC "fell" off is cause we aint repping our own artist. You be hearing to many down south rappers on our stations. Down south you hear southern rappers and not nothing from anywhere else (barely) same anywhere else. Then when we do get a rapper from NY he tryna flow like a chicago nikka and so on

Blacks from cali moves to TX and shyt too. California as a state is expensive as fukk.

But still, most of the rappers that come out of Cali were still from LA.
