Comparing every Nas album to Illmatic is tired at this point. That album captured the essence of a certain era of NY hip hop and a certain point in Nas life and he never tried to duplicate it. Let it stand on its own. Let each album stand on its own. Best thing about Nas career is he's never tried to make the same album twice, every album he's done offers something different.
