Titanfall lost! Considering it was an online only game it should have been a digital only game except for special editions. Could have made a killing like that.

the problem why companies can't do this, is because physical media still outsells digital. so the stores team up and say, you sell games cheaper, or give out MUCH better deals... we'll stop selling your shyt in our store.. period.. and watch you survive losing out on over 50% of your market

record companies have run into the same thing.. doing itunes only releases.. or releasing them on itunes a week earlier.. only to have walmart or target or some shyt, pull that record from the store, or don't promote it at all

A game like titanfall didn't need physical media. Its always online. Everyone getting it could have downloaded it during the course of March.

it's not titanfall... it's the other games... yea you can take a top selling game off the physical market if you want to... but those stores are gonna retaliate when it's time to drop the next halo or gears... they play dirty out here

we all know hollywood is bigger than video games as an industry.. and they have zero issues shutting them down if they even attempt to go digital

target and amazon team up to not sell beyonce's album... platinum selling and lead selling artist can't even get her album in stores because she dropped it on itunes unannounced.

http://consumerist.com/2014/03/15/t...hy-new-video-games-are-always-the-same-price/
There’s a reason that pretty much every retailer in the US charges $59.99 for a new video game on the week of its release. It’s a price point that comes from the publisher, and all the retailers that sell the new product to consumers agree to abide by it.

Stores that choose not to abide by the price agreement quickly find themselves out of favor with the publisher for future shipments. So if Big Game Store wants to get players in the door for next year’s Call of Duty iteration, they won’t drop below the publisher’s guidance for this year’s.

same idea here... they can't start undercutting the big stores... cause nobody with any sense would buy from the big store... so the big store says "go ahead and beat us if you want to, we'll find a way to fukk up your sales one way or another"
