she continue with this, "i think that as a lyricist, he's ability to rap or to write about his life and his environment reminded me of nas in the best kind of way. i didn't think he was repeatin' the same thing that nas said or did but he was rhymin' about his contemporaries, what was happenin' in 2006. what you like about a great mc is his ability to narrate a story and i think the other thing that i liked about him was ability to be apart of the culture but also critique the culture in a way that wasn't shamin' it but wasn't celebratin' it either. it was more so this is my story, take or leave it. i don't know, i thought he was gonna make a larger impact in the same way that we now know nas has with his studies college and so it's been 10 years for lupe and i don't think that impact is there. it's not measurable, to me at least. but we can count on our hands the number of great songs he's had but not an album or a full body of work like illmatic. i loved food and liquor but i'm not so sure what happened next"- my sister

i'm not sure bout his mixtapes, i really got put on to his music by way of the advance copy of food and liquor. i know he had a shyt load of mixtapes but it's been so long since i've listened to them i wouldn't know which to tell you to check out and i actually went back and checked them out after hearin' the food and liquor album

the album to check for is the food and liquor album. the 1st one. not the part 2, but the very 1st 1. his 1st album
