I think the RIAA should change their certifications for today's music sales. 200k is the new gold

No one is ever selling 10 mill , probably never over 5 mill :wow:

I think the Plat and gold certs should be moved down to be more realistic and represent the fact that the majority of music is illegally downloaded.

Datpiff has a pretty good system

25k Bronze
50k Silver
100k gold
250k plat
500k double plat
1mill and above diamond

I think about 250k would represent today's equivalent of gold and 500k should be plat and 1 mill double plat

These are rough thoughts, I just think the system should be adjusted a little, also Em is throwin off the scale so don't mention him:usure:
No ON THE DIAMOND shyt.

What do you know they changed it:mjlol:

Streaming is the wave now

Shout out to Big Sean
You still got to generate the same revenue as before or even more if you go by Tidals split, from leaked documents.
1500 streams = $18 from Tidal = $7 from Spotify = 1 sale on billboard.

Tidal claim they pay double that, I doubt know about that though.

If cats are purchasing their music in different ways, they should account for it.

That shyt that was proposed in the first post is something else. You'll still never be able to compare with before, people download, listen to various types of portable radios, youtube, Soundcloud, and there's a billion different artists specially in electronic and rock.

I don't think you understand the point of this was to change the system with the times, ignore my system because the shyt was a rough idea.

The 1,000 streams equals one sale isn't ideal either but it does get people a better read on how well their albums are doing.

Okey

But I think 1500 streams is a great idea, cause it mirrors the average money that the labels are paid for one CD. So that one cd sale at Best Buy has the same monetary value as 1 sale from streaming. There's really no other way to do it. If they reduce the price of cd's, they can reduce the 1500 equivalence, and vice versa if increased.
