That actually explains a lot, why his vocals don't sound like standard rap mixing.. Again someone can draw on paper that don't make them a good artist......... Most artists don't mix their vocal, can't mix their vocal. And don't have much creativity to do much with it they need a :"engineer"......... most R&B singing don't even write own music.

In rap your not doing that your just trying to bring out the clarity... You don't listen to Gucci mane and think oh his voice sounds beautiful... They not trying to do that level of editing it's unnecessary he just a rapper. The only time it get complicated in Hip hop is if they are using singers, or do their doing some Drake, Kanye type shyt.
I want you to hear every single note.... every single note, the clarity, the timing, every echo, the placement of every back vocal, and how it change through out the songs. shyt is extra precise.
It's an advantage when an artist is a producer and writer they can be more artistically hands on. This is why Kanye is so out there, you know dang well Keef doesn't have the artistic mind of Kanye.
Notice how this song is master completely different, because she far enough in producing she can experiment with different shyt. This song is meant to have a druggy weeknd vibe and it's dead on. She knows what she doing.
